But even if you can rely on residential solar systems to power your lights, heaters and other electronics at home, you probably still need to use traditional electricity resources. It is still necessary to be smart about the electrical appliances that you use in the home. Different models of the same appliance have different energy needs. Aside from this, it is a good thing to be reminded of ways that you can further lower energy cost.

Here are more ways to reduce your electricity costs ~Use compact fluorescent lamps, rather than the normal bulbs and tube-lights, as they consume just one third of the electricity used by the latter two. ~Use energy efficient appliances. They might be a little expensive initially, but will surely help reduce your electricity bills in the long run.~Cook food just before you are ready to eat, thereby saving on reheating costs as well as refrigerating costs (of storing the food).~Turn the thermostat of the refrigerator to minimum in cold or cool weather.~Take a stroll around your home and unplug the devices that are not used on a regular basis. Though they aren’t turned on, they hold on some energy to stay warm. Unplugging them will help you save on this power.
