When it comes to a real garden, soil preparation is serious matter. For a simple vegetable garden there are vital components to make an excellent soil preparation. The first step is to remove compaction. This should be done when the soil is dry or at least when it is moist, never when wet. Regularly add organic material while firming the soil with the back of a rake every time.
Small areas can be prepared using simple tolls such as a spade and rake. For bigger areas, an electric tiller will be a big help. The mantis electric tiller will do a great job of loosening up compacted soil, cut through roots and dislocate stones. It can do these procedures as deep as 10 inches into the soil. The properly prepared soil will make it easy to put in the seeds that will grow to be a healthy and happy plant.
