Remember Karate Kid? You know how Mister Miyagi tended and nurtured those little miniature trees? They’re called Bonsai trees. Bonsai means bon planted. Bon being those little clay pots where the tree is planted. Bonsai trees are plants that are shaped to look like trees.

Basically, bonsai trees are cut and pruned and generally tended to take the shape of trees. They are not necessarily “dwarf” trees. They can be shrubs or any kind of woody stemmed plant. Bonsai trees require a lot of tending to. The simple act of watering them have to be precise to avoid “drought” or “root rot.”
