bluebird houses

Give bluebirds their little piece of paradise. Sadly, in the last half century or more, the number of bluebirds has decreased significantly in the United States. Help them find suitable nest sites by providing them with bluebird houses right in your own backyard. Bluebird houses placed in good areas help the birds reproduce better.

Here are some tips to remember to make your bird-saving contribution a success:~Put up bluebird houses in areas around open fields, pastures, golf courses, gardens, large lawns, and even cemeteries. These provide excellent bluebird habitat as they are usually populated with plenty of insects the birds can eat.~Place houses 4 to 6 feet above ground and spaced 50 to 100 yards apart. Position them facing to the south or southeast. ~Try to place bluebird houses near trees, shrubs or fences so they have easy access to perches.~Do not discourage other bird species from using the birdhouse. They are also helpful in controlling insect populations. Simply put up another house about 10 to 20 feet away
