If you want to attract particular bird species into your garden, you need to choose birdhouses and locations that will be attractive to them. Hummingbirds prefer to build their nests in sheltered locations. It should be out of the way of strong winds that can blow their baby birds to the ground. Owls and other large birds will require bigger accommodations. There are a range of birdhouses that can be bought for them as well.
The chickadee and wren are tiny birds that will need protection. They are fairly tame birds that often come in small flocks. In suburban areas they prefer locations with scattered trees. Because they often nest in cavities a chickadee birdhouse endeavors to duplicate this. A metal roof chicadee birdhouse will help in defending the tiny birds from predators and dangerous weather
